Legislation guidelines for the Integrated Qualifications System

On 31 March 2015 the Council of Ministers adopted the legislation quidelines for the Act on the Integrated Qualifications System (IQS). Thanks to the system, diplomas and certificates will be comparable, the quality of courses and trainings will be assessed, and Polish companies will gain a new tool to confirm their competitiveness.

Works on the legislation are conducted under the direction of the Minister of National Education. The regulations concerning the integrated qualifications system are the answer to the changes in the labour market and the economy.

What will the introduction of the IQS change?

  • Obtaining a certificate of qualification will be faster, simpler and more accessible. This is an important change for employees, the unemployed and those planning to change jobs.
  • It will be easier to evaluate what an educational institution or training company is offering.
  • It will be easier to plan one’s professional development.
  • Educational and professional counsellors will gain a tool that will help them to provide more effective assistance to people who want to retrain, improve their skills or look for a job.
  • Employees will be able to prove their value to the employer in a more readable way.
  • Employers will be able to recruit, pay schemes and conduct training for their employees more efficiently and effectively.
  • Training companies and other organizations involved in various forms of education will be able to confirm the value of their offer and present it in an understandable way.

The IQS will cover general, higher and vocational education, including not only what one can learn at school or university, but also during courses, training, at work, at home and in any other way. Based on the experience of other European countries, the number of people interested in recognizing competences and upgrading their qualifications will increase, which will have a positive effect not only on their professional situation, but also on their sense of job security.
