The Irish qualifications system revealed

Representatives of the NQF project visited the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) on July 1-3, 2012. The aim of this study visit was to learn about the principles and functioning of their register, qualifications system and the procedures for entering a qualification into the register.

The study visit to Coventry

On 19-21 June 2012, the study visit to Coventry provided the NQF team with much valuable information about how the English and Northern Irish qualifications register was developed, as well as about the institution that manages it – OFQUAL. OFQUAL is the abbreviation for the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, which can also be understood as the “Office for Qualifications and Examinations”.

Advisory Group Meeting

On October 11-12, 2010 in Brussels, we participated in the 7^th meeting of the Advisory Group (established by the European Commission on April 23, 2009 to support the process of implementing the European Qualifications Framework).

A visit to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland

The Polish Qualifications Framework now being prepared should be compatible with the European Qualifications Framework and developed according to the referencing principles set forth by the Advisory Group for the EQF. For this reason, work on the framework must take the international context into consideration. To achieve this, representatives from Poland should participate in the Advisory Group and other European bodies working on frameworks and at the same time cooperate with teams developing frameworks in other countries in order to exchange experiences.

ERI holds a seminar on the English framework

The Educational Research Institute held a seminar on "Standards and Assessment in Vocational Qualifications" on February 10, 2012. The seminar provided an opportunity for our team of experts to obtain a more detailed understanding of how the English qualifications framework functions.

Work on the referencing report

A meeting was held on February 20-21, 2012 with the PQF team and foreign experts on the Polish referencing report project. Among the issues discussed during the meeting were the table of descriptors of the Polish Qualifications Framework and the results of a study entitled “Validating learning outcomes achieved through the non-formal educational system and informal learning”.

Study visit to Glasgow

From the 26 to the 29 of March, 2012, the NQF project team met with experts of the Glasgow Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Partnership. During the meetings, a lot of information was acquired about developing the portal, as well as on the institution managing the Scottish Qualifications Framework (SQF).

Seminar on frameworks with experts from abroad

On 7-8 May 2012 in Warsaw's Copernicus Conference Centre, a seminar was held on the preparations for the Polish referencing report. The meeting was attended by Polish and foreign experts from Scotland, Austria and Germany, who shared information with Polish experts about the extent to which the qualifications frameworks are prepared in their countries.
